Ever thought of a different type of wedding that will keep your friends and family reminiscing for years to come. Recent changes in the licensing law for weddings, mean that you can now tie the knot, in different surroundings to the conventional church setting. And don't worry about any younger members of the party, the wedding is treated as a private event so they are entitled to come into the Pub.
The Smugglers at St.Margarets-At-Cliffe has recently applied and obtained a licence to enable weddings or civil ceremonies to be held on our premises.
The bonus of having your wedding held here, is the convenience of the Bride & Groom and the invited guests, being in one building for the service and then move a few yards after the ceremony, for drinks (and before if the Bride allows the Groom a glass of dutch courage) and then a few more yards to sit down for the reception meal.
The Pub and restaurant are closed to the general public for the duration of the wedding and reception, so there is no worry of any unwelcome guests. - even if the whole proceedings go from 10.00AM to midnight.
In the Summer, the reception can be held outside under the cover of our large covered beer garden. In winter, you can still use the beer garden. You have to, however, provide your own thermal undergarments. Alternatively and as most wedding parties have done in the past, used the restaurant and bar for the reception. We can cater for about 80 guests
Sit down meals or buffet meals are available and Peter and his staff will be pleased to discuss your requirements with you, to make your day extra special.
All the arrangements are arranged by the staff, including the registrar (unless you wish to bring your own!!)
Prices vary according to your requirements and can work out substantially less than a formal church wedding. Please feel free to contact Peter by phone or Contact us, to discuss your options.
